This week I talk to Tony Clement. Former Oklahoma runner and native of Pennsylvania, currently living in Eugene Oregon. Although he only spent 4 years in Albuquerque, he has a good insight and perspective on the sport. There are a lot of things I agree with, that we delve a little into at the end of the interview. Finding ways to fix our sport are difficult and money is a huge factor, but if we want to continue to compete at the level we are in this country it is something to think about.
We talk a lot about his past, who he looked up to and was taken under wing by. He talks about his time in Albuquerque and with the Dukes Track Club and coaching from Ben Fletcher. When talking about leaving New Mexico he brings up the challenges of trying to be a sub elite runner. Below are links to some of the people Tony brings up and of course, check out episode 9 and episode 8 where I interview the Dukes Track Club (Jesse and Arlene) and Ben Fletcher.
Remember, things are still tough out there. Stay safe, Stand up for what you believe in, support those in need and those around you, and in the meantime, keep running, New Mexico.
